Tracywatts Inc. is a modern millinery studio. We design, manufacture, and distribute a full contemporary line of women’s hats from our studio in the Gowanus area of Brooklyn, New York. With a commitment to artisanal techniques, we use traditional cut-and-sew and hand blocking methods. Each finishing touch is done by hand or with vintage machinery.
Born in Canada, Tracy Watts began her creative career as a painter and mold maker. She moved to New York City and soon found her niche in the sculptural world of hat design. Tracy studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, under the tutelage of Mme Janine Galimard. Tracy opened her first millinery studio in 1993 in the Chealsea neighborhood of Manhattan, New York. In 2008 we relocated to a larger studio in a renovated 1800’s knitwear factory in Brooklyn. Tracy’s skill and love for art carries through to her modern hat designs. Each hat is made with hand crafted materials and attention to detail, line, and balance.
